In the Spring of 2022, the PAST Foundation, in collaboration with Hamilton Local School District, was awarded the Summer Learning Opportunities and After School Grant (SLOAG) from the state of Ohio. The goal of this two-year funding opportunity was to create an informal program opportunity for students who were greatly affected by the gaps created by the pandemic. The PAST Foundation created the Ready Rangers program, an after-school STEM experience for students in Kindergarten - 3rd grade, in order to engage elementary students with STEM programming while also connecting early literacy practices with program content. This presentation will dive into the practices and content that have been used to help assist and equip elementary students through early career exposure, hands-on learning, and design thinking practices, as well as literacy development.
